I wield my words
In deep blue ink
And let them sink
I wield my words
To arm myself
With a million stories piled on the shelf
And perhaps to change the world itself
I wield my words
To take you away
To lands never seen but dreamt of anyway
To waters never plunged into but will be, someday
I wield my words
To stand apart
To carve a new path and follow the heart
And extricate myself from the crowds at last
I wield my words
To fit in, too
To create spaces for misfits like me and you
For whatever they say, we belong here too
I wield my words
To make you think
Away, well away, from ordinary things
And beyond, way beyond, heaven’s sync
I wield my words
To make you hear
The ring of laughter, the splash of a tear
The calmness of courage, the clumsiness of fear
I wield my words
To make you see
Wonders of the starlight that shines on thee
And the gifts not placed under holiday trees
I wield my words
To make you feel
The rain on your skin, the warmth of your being
As you sit reading, under a cold dry ceiling
I wield my words
To set me free
From this locked box without a key
And venture out into the unknown sea
So
From place to place
In wonder or haste
From world to world
I wield my words
Via stylus or swipe
Or in printed type
In deep blue ink
Or revolutionary pink
I wield my words
And let them sink
